Born
in
Brooklyn
, Vaughn Aiken moved to the
Bronx
at the age of two years old. He graduated from Cardinal Hayes, HS in 1990. It
was in Cardinal Hayes where he gained knowledge of self.
He
discovered his passion for education, public policy, government, the arts, and
African-American empowerment. During High School, Mr. Aiken started working with
the US Department of Justice, US Attorney’s Office under US Attorney Rudy
Giuliani.
Three years later, Mr. Aiken transferred to a different part of the
Justice Department, the
US
Marshals Service. In 1996, Mr. Aiken was asked to take over the Accountable
Property Division. Realizing that something was missing in his life, Mr. Aiken
went back to college, The City University of New York. In February of 2003, he
graduated with a BA in Public Administration.
Mr. Aiken is very involved in the community and with The City University
of New York, encouraging people to go to college, and is a member of Black
Alumni association, Center for Workers Education Alumni, Latino American Alumni.
Mr. Aiken is very involved with politics. The current treasurer of Councilmember
Jose M. Serrano and has worked on many campaigns including Congressman Jose E’
Serrano, Senator Hilary Clinton, and Freddy Ferrer.
Mr.
Aiken has also had the pleasure of meeting President Clinton and the Honorable
Ilyasah
Shabazz,
the daughter of the late , great Malcolm X.
A current residence of Westchester County , Mr. Aiken hold a second degree
black belt in bujinkan ninjutsu andis
married with two beautiful daughters, and is currently working on a book of
poetry and a children’s book.
